So it begins ….
The release of bing has created a positive outpouring of sentiments from users. The initial impressions seem to be appreciative and some people say the search results are more relevant.
I went to bing.com this morning and tried to evaluate it for myself. I opened 2 windows - one for google and one for bing - and typed in random key words [my name, pe ratio, my fathers name, PEG ration etc] and then compared the results.
In all honesty, the search results are not significantly different. For some of the keywords, the top few returned results were exactly the same and in the same order too. The only thing really cool and useful in bing is the right hand mini peek pop up which allowed me to look at the page contents before clicking on it. This feature will definitely save time on those nights when I am trying to do some quick research and dont want to browse through pages upon pages of search results.
For right now, I will reserve my comments about the superiority of bing versus google. Giving credit where its due is however necessary in this case and in my opinion Microsoft seem to have improved tremendously over their previous attempts at making a good search engine.
More analysis of bing versus google will follow in the future ….. till then google or bing - wont be a significant difference !
